1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use ErrandsNeighbor, we may collect:
- Account and contact information, such as your name, email address, mobile number, account roles, and authentication records.
- Marketplace information, including errand descriptions, locations, timing, status updates, completion evidence, communications, ratings, cancellations, and dispute records.
- Location information when you choose to provide it, including a Neighbor's location while an accepted errand is active.
- Transaction information, such as payment status, amounts, refunds, and payout status. Payment-card and bank-account details are collected and processed by our payment providers rather than stored directly by ErrandsNeighbor.
- Verification, eligibility, and safety information required for Neighbor onboarding, payment onboarding, fraud prevention, or marketplace investigations.
- Device, log, and usage information, such as IP address, browser type, device and push-notification token, requested pages, timestamps, and diagnostic events.
- Communication preferences and records of consent, including SMS opt-in, opt-out, delivery, and phone-verification records.
2. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Operate, secure, support, and improve the marketplace.
- Match Customers and Neighbors and provide the information needed to complete an accepted errand.
- Process payments, refunds, and payouts and maintain transaction records.
- Verify accounts, prevent fraud, enforce marketplace rules, and investigate safety concerns or disputes.
- Send requested authentication, account, payment, safety, and errand-status communications.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect users, the public, and ErrandsNeighbor.
3. SMS and mobile information
SMS participation is optional. When you expressly opt in and verify your number, we use it to send one-time verification codes and non-promotional transactional updates about your account or errands. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. You may reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance, or change your SMS preference from your Account page.
We may provide mobile information to communications service providers acting on our behalf solely to deliver and administer the messages you requested, or disclose it when required by law. Those providers are not authorized to use the information for their own marketing.
4. When we disclose information
We may disclose information in the following limited situations:
- To marketplace participants when reasonably necessary to perform an accepted errand, such as relevant instructions and locations.
- To service providers that host the service, process payments, deliver email or SMS, provide maps, support verification, prevent fraud, or perform other work for us under appropriate restrictions.
- To comply with law, legal process, or valid government requests, or to protect rights, safety, property, and marketplace integrity.
- In connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or transfer of all or part of the business, subject to applicable law.
ErrandsNeighbor does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
ErrandsNeighbor does not use cookies, advertising identifiers, or other technologies to link your activity with activity in other companies’ apps or websites for targeted advertising or advertising measurement. We do not sell data to data brokers. This applies to our website and our iOS and Android apps.
Cookies and device storage support authentication, security, saved errand drafts, and continuity of support conversations. We do not offer optional advertising or analytics cookies, so there is no automatic cookie-consent prompt. You can open “Cookies & privacy” in the footer at any time. Browser controls can delete or block storage, but sign-in and other features may then stop working.
Stripe processes payment, device, and transaction information for payments and fraud prevention. Mapbox receives address searches, map and route requests, coordinates, IP addresses, and service-usage information to provide maps, directions, security, and billing. We disable the map library’s optional performance-metrics collection. These services may use their own cookies or identifiers for their service functions. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy and Mapbox’s Privacy Policy.
No advertising tracking does not mean no data collection. The account, location, payment, support, notification, and diagnostic information described above is still processed to deliver and protect the service. Location access and push notifications use separate device permissions; you can manage those in device settings.
On selected public website pages, we use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate visits, referring sites, device/browser types, and approximate regions. This integration does not set analytics cookies, send account identifiers or form contents, or use data for advertising. We remove query strings and URL fragments from page-view URLs, exclude account, authentication, payment, errand-detail and admin pages, and respect browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. This Web Analytics integration is disabled inside our iOS and Android apps. See Vercel’s Web Analytics privacy information.
6. Help assistant and support escalation
The Help assistant uses approved ErrandsNeighbor support content to answer common questions. Messages, AI-generated replies, and any request for a human agent may be stored with your account so our support team can monitor, respond, investigate safety concerns, and improve support. Do not enter passwords, full payment-card numbers, government identifiers, or medical information in Help.
7. Retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, complete transactions, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, satisfy legal and accounting obligations, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by record type and legal requirement.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
You may update certain account information and communication preferences through your Account page. You may also ask to access, correct, or delete personal information, or exercise other rights available under applicable law, by contacting us. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information when legally permitted or required. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
To request deletion of your account and associated personal data, visit our account deletion page. You can also reach this page from Account > Delete account in the app. It explains how to submit a request and what records may need to be retained.
9. Children
ErrandsNeighbor is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. We will post the updated version and effective date here and provide additional notice when required.
